SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, that is employed to verify whether an email message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a domain name will prevent the forging of email addresses made with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this feature for a domain creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers that are allowed to send emails from mail boxes using the domain. Once this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When a new email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through tests if it comes from an official server. If it does, it's sent to the destination address, but if it does not originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is rejected. In this way nobody will mask an email address and make it appear as if you are sending spam messages. This method is also referred to as email spoofing.

The service is controlled through the Emails section of the advanced, and easy to work with Hepsia Control Panel. What is needed to activate the protection is to type the IP of the email server and its hostname - mail.server.com, for instance.
